The definition

An AI GM is a computer-run general manager that manages a team in a sports simulation the way a human would: setting lineups, drafting, signing free agents, and proposing, judging and negotiating trades, with a personality and a plan of its own.

In HoopSim every club without a human owner has an AI GM, one of eight personalities: The Quant, All In, The Rebuilder, Old School, The Wildcard, The Rival, The Developer and The Mercenary. Each has needs and a plan (contending, retooling or rebuilding) and trades with other AI teams and with you. You negotiate with them in chat in plain words; they read your message into a deal card, answer in their own voice, counter with full packages and pitch you players that fit your weakest spot. They remember how you have treated them, which colors what they say but never changes their prices. They see no hidden ratings and play by the same cap rules. Their best players are untouchable, and they tell you why.
