The commissioner

Every multiplayer league has a commissioner who runs it. The commissioner can:

  • Advance the league: advance days, turn auto-advance on or off, set its cadence and how many GMs must be ready, pause it or skip a run, and post a next-advance notice.
  • Move the offseason along: advance each offseason phase, run the draft lottery and the staff free agency rounds, or switch on autopilot so offseason steps advance on the same cadence.
  • Review trades: after both sides accept, a trade waits in a review window (24 hours by default, adjustable) where the commissioner can veto it. The commissioner also sets the trade deadline and whether AI GMs trade at all.
  • Speak for the league: send League office memos, which reach you by push, email or your Office inbox.

Sim settings

The commissioner can tune how games play. Most settings are sliders from 1 to 10 where 5 is the neutral, real-league-like value: home-court strength, pace, foul rate, scoring, turnovers, three-point frequency, injury rate and severity, clutch strength, technical fouls, assists, offensive rebounds, blocks, fatigue recovery and the out-of-position penalty.

There are also on/off switches for home court, fatigue, fouls, overtime, the press, injuries, clutch play, technicals and ejections. The commissioner also sets the maximum injuries per team, the draft class size and the All-Star format.

Cap settings

Money rules are league settings too. By default the league follows the 2025-26 pro basketball numbers: a $154.6M salary cap, $187.9M luxury tax line, $195.9M first apron and $207.8M second apron, plus the league minimum, max-contract percentages, yearly raises, a salary floor and the exceptions. The commissioner can change any of them. You can see your league's numbers in your team's financials.

Side games and banter switches

The commissioner decides which extras your league has: ability cards, Reads, The Show (and which hosts appear) and the under-the-table deal character. Each has its own on/off switch and a few sizes and caps.

AI GM banter is off by default. The commissioner can set it to mild or full and pick where it happens: sim-day posts, reactions, DMs and replies. You can still mute banter DMs for yourself.

Inviting GMs

Each league has one league link, a reusable invite for your group chat that works until every team is taken. The commissioner can also make personal invites that hold a specific team for someone, work a limited number of times, or expire.

Solo and multiplayer leagues

A solo league is your franchise against AI GMs. There's no waiting on a clock or other GMs: you press SIM (to the next game, the next event, or a number of days), and offseason steps run as you go.

A multiplayer league has human GMs, a commissioner and a shared clock. Any team without a human is run by an AI GM.

AI GMs

Every AI GM has a personality:

  • The Quant: trusts the numbers, ignores the noise.
  • All In: the window is open; close it.
  • The Rebuilder: tearing it down to build it right.
  • Old School: you earn your jersey, you keep it.
  • The Wildcard: no plan, no problem.
  • The Rival: eyes on the top seed, always.
  • The Developer: draft young, coach hard, win later.
  • The Mercenary: value in, value out, nothing personal.

AI GMs trade with each other and with you. Each has needs and a plan (contending, retooling or rebuilding), and they remember how you've dealt with them. Their best players are off the table: AI teams won't trade their best player, an all-star, a young rising star, their only playmaker or rim protector, the only starter at their position, a key starter with no real backup, or a young starter still on a rookie deal.

Each AI GM's profile shows their style in words (how often they call, how they spend, how they feel about youth and picks, how hard they bargain) with tips for dealing with them. The commissioner can switch an AI GM's persona, tune it, or mute its banter.

Vacation

Going away? Turn on GM vacation in My Team. While it's on, your roster moves, depth chart, game plan, trades and bids are paused, but your team keeps playing its games. Turn it off to make changes again.
