The definition

Offensive rating (ORtg) is points scored per 100 possessions. Using possessions instead of games removes pace from the comparison, so a slow, efficient team and a fast, efficient team score alike.

HoopSim computes a team's offensive rating as 100 times points divided by possessions, and shows ORTG in the Advanced view of the player stats pages and in league history. Because the engine plays every possession, the rating reflects what actually happened: how open the shots were, how many trips ended in turnovers, second chances off the offensive glass and trips to the line. The Game Plan levers that move it most are Focus and Three-point usage (with real shooters), Motion (more assists, but more passing turnovers with weak passers) and Crash the boards.
