Pace is the number of possessions a basketball team uses per 48 minutes. A fast team plays more possessions, so both it and its opponent score more points; a slow team shortens the game.
HoopSim computes pace from the box score the standard way: possessions are field goal attempts minus offensive rebounds plus turnovers plus 0.44 times free throw attempts, and pace is 48 times the two teams' average possessions divided by the minutes played. Pace is also one of your Game Plan settings. It changes how many possessions both teams get, not your share of them, so more possessions favor the better team and an underdog wants fewer, and fast games tire everyone. The commissioner can set the league's baseline pace with a slider.
