The definition

A closing lineup, or closing five, is the group of players a coach wants on the floor at the end of a close game, which is not always the starting five.

In HoopSim you set a closing five on the Game Plan, and you can pick the position each one plays. They check in for crunch time, the very end of a close game in the fourth quarter or overtime, and stay in past their minutes, through fourth-quarter foul trouble and without regular rotation or fatigue subs. If you leave it incomplete, saving fills it with your starters; if some of your closers cannot play that night, the best available five close, leaving out anyone who is ice-cold. Clutch time rewards composure: quick, well-conditioned players, true stars, strong makeup and good chemistry hold up best, and in the playoffs clutch pressure counts for more.
