Painting your rotation

Game Plan › Rotation has a grid of all 48 minutes plus an overtime block, where you paint who is on the floor each minute. Every minute needs exactly five players; Fix it asks you who sits or who comes in rather than choosing for you. Your first chart starts from your Depth Chart minutes. The Rotation menu can also fill it for you: Coach Suggest (staggers your two best players and sets ball-handling roles), Match my Depth Chart, Starters 8-on/4-off, Stagger the stars, Short bench and Load management.

No chart means nothing changes: your team subs the normal way (see Depth Chart & Minutes). A chart is only used when at least five of the painted players are dressed that night, and never in a 1 on 1 game.

How closely the sim follows it

Follow my chart sits at the top of Precision and starts at Strict:

  • To the second: only an injury, ejection or foul-out bends the chart.
  • Strict: foul trouble and clearly exhausted legs can too, but no garbage time, closers or catch-up subs.
  • Loose: normal tiredness, garbage time and your closing five in crunch time can bend it as well.
  • Coach's feel: the chart is only a guide and the normal rotation runs.

A player pulled off the chart comes back at their next painted minute. In overtime the sim uses your painted OT block; if it's empty, your closing five plays it. While a chart is followed, minutes flex doesn't apply, and garbage time and the closing five only come in at Loose.

Chart and Depth Chart stay in step

The two screens share one set of minutes, and whichever you edited last wins. Saving a chart writes its totals back to your Depth Chart minutes. Saving Depth Chart minutes that no longer match your painted chart rebuilds the chart to match them; a chart that already matches is left alone.

Ball handling

Game Plan › Ball handling gives each player a role (Primary, Secondary, Off-ball or Post) and a touches level (High, Normal or Low). You can have several Primaries, for example one per unit, and set a fallback order of up to three players who run the offense when no Primary is on the floor. A player with no role plays the way their position normally does. Roles work with or without a rotation chart.

Edit, Cancel, Done

Game Plan, Depth Chart and Training Camp open locked so a stray tap can't change anything. Tap Edit to make changes, then Done to save or Cancel to put everything back the way it was. Leaving with unsaved changes asks first.

This game or from now on

Changes you make in the Coaching room (your staff's change cards included) ask how long they should last: From now on (the default), the next game only, or the next five games. A From now on save replaces any custom lineup or plan you'd set for upcoming games, and says which ones; Undo puts them back. When your next game has its own custom setup, the Depth Chart and Game Plan show a banner with See it and Use default.
